To reach Derawan, you need to fly to Kalimarau Airport (BEJ) in Berau, East Kalimantan. Batik Air is the only airline that offers direct flights from Jakarta to Berau, but there are also other flights with layovers in cities like Makassar, Samarinda, Balikpapan, or Surabaya, operated by airlines like Lion Air, Citilink, Super Air Jet, Garuda Indonesia, and Sriwijaya Air. Once you arrive at Kalimarau Airport, you’ll travel by land for about 3 hours to Tanjung Batu Port. From there, you’ll take a speedboat to Derawan Island, which takes about 40 minutes.
